El INTA obtuvo plantas transgénicas de algodón por primera vez en el país
Este logro alcanzado por investigadores del organismo, permitirá contar con cultivos resistentes al picudo del algodonero. Esta variedad disminuirá su capacidad de daño, al incorporar tecnología genética que bloquea la función de un gen esencial del insecto cuando se alimenta.

La vacuna recombinante R-VAC INMUNER IBD obtuvo el 1er premio en la categoría “Producción Animal” de los premios CiTA 2019
Este desarrollo se inició hacia el año 2006 en el Grupo Poxvirus del Instituto de Biotecnología (IB), del INTA Castelar, y en el año 2012 se continuó en colaboración con Laboratorios Inmuner (PyME de Concepción del Uruguay).
R-VAC INMUNER IBD, es la primera vacuna recombinante nacional para prevenir la Enfermedad Infecciosa de la Bursa (IBD) –llamada también Gumboro–, altamente contagiosa en pollos jóvenes, que provoca pérdidas significativas para los productores.

Descubren los genes responsables del color morado en zanahorias
Científicos del CONICET, el INTA La Consulta y la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo descubrieron cuáles son los genes de esta particular hortaliza que controlan la acumulación de pigmentos con capacidades antioxidantes, antiinflamatorias y anticancerígenas.
El estudio genético de la producción de estos pigmentos, llamados antocianos, permitirá intervenir en los programas de mejoramiento, de una manera más rápida y eficiente. El objetivo final es lograr variedades nuevas que tengan alta concentración de antocianos, tanto para consumo en fresco como para la producción de colorantes alimenticios naturales.

Overview: The aim of this workshop is to introduce researchers to the field of Chemoinformatics, especially in the areas of Structure-Based Drug Design (SBDD) and Ligand-Based Drug Design (LBDD). Trainees will cover the use of protein, ligand and drug databases, protein modelling, molecular docking and virtual screening for drug discovery applications. Overview: This course will provide training on RNAseq data production and interpretation. The course starts with a brief introduction to RNA-seq and discusses quality control issues. Next, we will present the alignment step, quantification of expression and differential expression analysis. We will dedicate some time to analysing and constructing networks from expression data and using the Gene Ontology for gene set enrichment test. Finally, we will cover some aspects of Meta-metrics in networks (high-dimensional data).
Target Audience: This course is aimed at researchers from Masters-level upwards within Latin America who are working with and/or generating their own plant genomic and transcriptomic datasets.
